Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry
Chief Executive Officer, PGJDC
PGJDC is a monolith; a family with striking diversity enjoying vast pool of talent, creativity, Ingenuity, knowledge and skills. However, it is essential for all of us to ensure that such admirable qualities of our top of the line academicians and instructors, supported by state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, are inculcated in the budding Pakistani youth aspiring to join Gem and Jewellery Industry in Pakistan. It is my pleasure to share some of the important milestones of PGJDC, achieved in a very short period with the grace of Allah Almighty and with continuous support and guidance from the Gems and Jewellery Sector and the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production. The Company has established fully functional Training Centers in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad and Sargodha, whereas Gem Exchanges have been established in Peshawar and Quetta. The Company has also setup Gem Labs in Karachi, Lahore, Gilgit, Peshawar, Quetta, Muzaffarabad and Sargodha and Assaying and Hallmarking Centers in Karachi and Lahore. We have trained more than 12,000 individuals across the country in the areas of gems and jewellery through more than 800 training programs. The Company is playing a vital role in promoting the Gems & Jewellery industry in the international markets through participation in different international shows in major countries including USA, Germany, Turkey, UAE, Hong Kong and Thailand, and has so far organized 37 Gem Exhibitions/Bazaars in Islamabad, lahore, Peshawar and Quetta to create enabling environment for Gems and Jewellery trade and exports.
The Company has also organized two dazzling International Gems and Jewellery Exhibitions in Karachi and Lahore during which 154 Exhibitors from all across Pakistan exhibited their products in front of targetted local and international audiences. Around 72 International delegates visited the Event and the Exhibition resulted in development of B2B and B2C linkages between the local sector and international counterparts leading towards enhancement in exports.
However, this is not what we want to settle for. The idea is to move forward with more rigor and commitment. Our future plans include setting up of training centers in Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Multan and Sukkur; Gem Processing, Mining and Training centers in Abbottabad, Chillas, Chitral, Gizir and Skardu; Assaying and Hallmarking Centers in Faisalabad and Multan; Business Development Centers in Karachi, Islamabad And Gilgit; and a Gem Exchange in Karachi.
I believe, through concerted efforts, team work, continuous support from industry, coupled with dynamic marketing strategy, we would be able to achieve our goals and uplift the industry leading towards value addition and exports.
