Dubai International Jewellery Week 2016 was held at Dubai World Trade Centre on 7th -10th December 2016. This event is organized each year at Dubai World Trade Centre and is considered as home to the most renowned jewellery companies and designers from all across the globe showcasing their finest work. Around 250 companies from 25 countries exhibited their most versatile gems and jewellery products during this four day event. Various jewellery designs were exhibited during the show by gems and jewellery enterprises belonging to China, India, Thailand, Germany, Lebanon, Korea, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UK, USA, UAE and Turkey.
Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) set up an exquisite Pakistan Pavilion at the Dubai International Jewellery Week 2016 under the brand name
Gems And Jewellery Enterprises from different cities of Pakistan including; Karachi, Islamabad and Quetta exhibited their products during the show through the platform of PGJDC and availed this opportunity to promote their products in front of a discerning audience of international visitors. The Pakistani exhibitors remained engaged in B2B and B2C business deals with the visitors leading towards million of rupees spot sale and export orders.
The Pakistan pavilion was visited by the Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE which increased the profile of the Pavilion. His Excellency was accompanied by the Commercial and Press Consuls of Pakistan in Dubai and other representatives from Pakistan Embassy. The Ambassador praised the Company’s efforts for highlighting the true potential of Gems And Jewellery Pakistan internationally and urged the Company’s management to participate in similar exhibitions around the world in order to grab its due share in international markets. A number of meetings were held by the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer PGJDC with representatives of Gems and Jewellery Associations of different countries including India, China, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Korea, UAE and Italy to discuss different avenues of cooperation and to develop trade relationships . The upcoming Pakistan International Gems And Jewellery Exhibition (PIGJE) which is scheduled to be held at Lahore in April 2017 was also promoted during the show. Facilitation of Pakistani Gems and Jewellery enterprises in DIJW 2016 under the brand name proved to be beneficial for the sector for establishing business linkages culminating into rise in exports.
